Manny Pacquiao is currently in Los Angeles to promote his January 19 showdown with Adrien Broner. One of the stops on the Filipino boxer’s trip to LA was a Clippers game, where he crossed paths with one of the chief rivals of his career, Floyd Mayweather.

At the game, Pacquiao approached Mayweather for a quick handshake, though Mayweather didn’t seem all that enthused about the encounter. In fact, it seemed a little awkward.

After years of negotiations and anticipations, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather finally met in the boxing ring in May of 2015. On that night, Mayweather emerged the victor by unanimous decision after 12 rounds that failed to live up to expectations.

Since then, Manny Pacquiao has gone 3-1, sandwiching a controversial decision loss to Jeff Horn between decision defeats of Tim Bradley and Jessie Vargas and a vintage stoppage of Lucas Matthysse. He heads into his fight with Adrien Broner with a 60–7–2 overall record.

Floyd Mayweather, meanwhile, last stepped into the ring on New Years Eve, when he walloped 20-year-old Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa to a first-round knockout in a bizarre exhibition bout.

The last official bout on Mayweather’s record occurred in August of 2017, when he defeated former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor by 10th-round TKO in a headline dominating crossover fight. He’s still a perfect 50-0 overall.

While Floyd Mayweather currently claims to be retired, he has alluded to a potential rematch with Manny Pacquiao as recently as last September.
