UFC lightweights Michael Johnson and Dustin Poirier will take to the center of the Octagon in the main event of UFC Fight Night 94, which takes place in Hidalgo, Texas on Saturday night.
On Friday, the two fighters squared off for the ceremonial weigh-ins and things got heated between the two competitive fighters. As they squared up, you could see both of them talking and giving each other some of their thoughts, likely of what they are predicting will happen when they meet in the Octagon on Saturday night.
Poirier has gone on a four-fight winning streak since losing to Conor McGregor back in 2014 and is looking to make a big statement in the lightweight division with this fight against Johnson.
“This is gonna be my 18th fight, well two in the WEC and 15 in the UFC. I said I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me for long enough man,” Poirier said on UFC Unfiltered. “It’s time to start making some demands and get a gold belt wrapped around my waist.”
Johnson is coming off back-to-back losses with his most recent being against Nate Diaz. During a recent fan question and answer video he did live on Facebook, the lightweight scrapper really wants to get his rematch against the product of Stockton, California.
“Definitely want my Nate Diaz rematch. So, when we get done with Dustin, we’ll talk about that.”
In regards to Nate’s new success as a high-paid UFC fighter, Johnson said, “I don’t want a payday just from Nate. I want my rematch. It comes a time when it’s not about the money always, so I just want to get that [rematch].”
“In a rematch, I think I would kill him. You know, I lost focus. I can’t lose that if I do get that rematch.”
