When Daniel Cormier withdrew from UFC 197 with a leg injury, the UFC began looking for a replacement opponent to fight Jones in the main event.
After Anthony Johnson turned down the fight due to recently having mouth surgery, many people began calling for Rashad Evans to step in on short notice and have a rematch with Jones.
Ultimately, Ovince Saint Preux was selected as a fill-in opponent for Jones on short notice, and the bout was made an interim light heavyweight title fight.
In the video above Evans discusses why he is disappointed he didn’t get the rematch with Jones.
