VIDEO | USADA drug tests Demetrious Johnson while shopping for booze

Under the UFC’s partnership with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, fighters are obligated to update their location using the USADA app so as to make themselves available for random drug testing.

When a fighter fails to inform USADA of their location, they’re issued a warning. While that isn’t the case very often, UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone was one of the first, and most notable cases of a fighter failing to inform USADA of their location.

Recently, when UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson took a quick trip to the convenience store to purchase some alcohol for a date night with his wife, USADA decided to spring a random drug test on the champ, resulting in ‘Mighty Mouse’ having to take his drug test in the convenience store bathroom.

The champ is currently recovering from his TUF 24 Finale fight with Tim Elliot earlier this month, and will unfortunately be sidelined throughout the beginning of 2017 with a knee injury he sustained in his fight with Elliot earlier this month.

The fight was arguably the toughest of Johnson’s reign. In the very first round, Elliot was able to use his unorthodox style to catch Johnson by surprise in the striking category, and then nearly submit the champ on the ground. With that being said, ‘Mighty Mouse’ managed to control the fight over the course of the next four rounds, ultimately winning a unanimous decision to secure his 9th title defense.

So far there has been no word yet as to who Johnson will look to defend his belt against for his historic 10th title defense when he returns to the Octagon in 2017.
