VIDEO | A visibly broken Daniel Cormier reacts to Jon Jones being pulled from UFC 200
Late Wednesday, news broke that current UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was pulled from the light heavyweight title unification bout with champion Daniel Cormier.
The UFC arranged a special press conference to announce that Jones was pulled from the card and Cormier was there to answer questions from the media regarding the devastating news and had some very profound things to say.
“I’ve always fought whoever the UFC has offered me to fight, so I guess if Jon was back and the fight was the fight, then, of course, I would take it,” Cormier told the media.
“I’m just here to fight. I’m here to fight. I’m here to fight to try be an example for kids to look up to and know that regardless of what your circumstances, where you start, it’s how you finish it. If you do the right thing and be nice to people, care about people, people will care about you.
“I’m just here to be a light for people to follow. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life just as everybody else has but I’m just right now trying to do things in the best way that I can as a 37-year-old man.”
The UFC is currently working on seeing if they can keep UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier on UFC 200 with a short-notice opponent.
