Vitor Belfort eyes fights with Wanderlei Silva, ‘Rampage’, Chael Sonnen

Last night, in the co-main event of Bellator 206, MMA legends Wanderlei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson stepped onto the canvas together for a fourth time. In the end, Rampage won this fourth fight by second-round TKO, moving to 2-2 in his rivalry with Silva. Though Rampage is now calling for a Bellator heavyweight title shot, he’s also found himself in the crosshairs of another Brazilian MMA legend: Vitor Belfort.

Just before Silva and Rampage battled at Bellator 206, Vitor Belfort posted to Instagram, where he predicted Silva would win. Belfort said that, if Silva did win, he’d like to fight him in a soccer stadium in Brazil. That being said, he also said that he’d like to fight ‘Rampage’ if he emerged the victor, and that he would also be interested in a ‘warm-up fight’ with Chael Sonnen, who is currently booked for an October showdown with Fedor Emelianenko.

“Tonight Wanderlei will make it 3-1 vs Rampage at Bellator 206,” Vitor Belfort predicted. “[Wanderlei Silva] I’m rooting for you. I know you want to even our score in a soccer stadium in Brazil… if not then [Rampage] You are next. [Chael Sonnen] you can be my warm up fight, I’ll help make you famous.”

Vitor Belfort last fought in May, when he was knocked out by Lyoto Machida, who recently signed with Bellator himself. In the wake of this fight, Belfort announced his retirement from MMA — though that retirement seems to have ended already.

Although Vitor Belfort has not yet signed with Bellator MMA, he does seem like the kind of fighter they promotion would be interested in. He would certainly fit in well among the other MMA legends on the roster such as Rampage, Silva, Sonnen, Emelianenko, Machida, Frank Mir and Gegard Mousasi.

Do you think we’ll see Vitor Belfort in the Bellator cage soon? Who do you want to see him fight if so?
