WSOF President Ray Sefo Responds To Palhares’ ‘Greasing’ Allegations
WSOF 22 is still being talked about, but not necessarily because of the fights, more so for the drama.
There was a brawl between the Diaz brothers and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s crew and there was plenty of controversy surrounding the main event, where welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares took on Jake Shields.
Going into the fight Shields commented several times about how he felt Palhares was a dirty fighter, then when they fought, well, he didn’t do much to prove him wrong. Palhares repeatedly scratched at the eyes of Shields and then held onto the fight ending submission too long.
WSOF decided to strip Palhares of his title and suspend him indefinitely. Yesterday, Palhares broke his silence and turned the tables on Shields, accusing him of cheating by ‘greasing’ his body. He also denied all the claims of eye gouging and cranking the submission too hard.
Now, WSOF president Ray Sefo has a response to the greasing allegations, via his official Twitter:
I don't think it's true because Jake was checked by The officials plus Palhraes didn't once complained to the ref https://t.co/Ja14ZdYHTK
