WSOF Strips Rousimar Palhares Of Title, Suspends Him Indefinitely
WSOF 22 did not go down without its share of drama. Actually it had more than its share of drama, both in and out of the cage.
There was a brawl between the Diaz brothers and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s crew and major drama in the cage between Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields.
During there title fight Palhares, who’s been called a dirty fighter before, was seen obviously raking his fingers into Shields’ eyes. He was warned several times but kept doing it. Then at the end of the fight Palhares forced Shields to tap with a kimura. Shields tapped immediately but Palhares clearly held onto and continued to crank the hold even after the referee tired to pull him off.
WSOF president Ray Sefo went on The MMA Hour today and announced that the promotion has stripped him of the title and suspended him immediately.
