UFC CEO Dana White has reacted to Brian Ortega bouncing back after near-disaster against Yair Rodriguez. During fighter introductions for his UFC Mexico City fight against “El Pantera,” Ortega appeared to roll his ankle while warming up. He then had had a shaky opening round, which saw his nose get busted up by Yair. Ortega was able to settled down and secured an arm triangle choke to force the submission in the third round.

Tonight’s UFC Mexico City event was co-headlined by a featherweight rematch between Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega. Rodriguez (19-5 MMA) had entered the bout looking to rebound, this after suffering a TKO loss to Alex Volkanovski in his most previous effort in July of last year. Ige landed one more punch on a floored Fili to seal the deal. “50K” lived up to his nickname, snagging a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

This was an undisputed UFC Featherweight Championship bout. Rodriguez was the interim titleholder going into the fight. Volkanovski ended up rocking Rodriguez in the third round before taking him down to the mat. From there, Alex Volkanovski finished the fight with ground-and-pound.
