VIDEO | Yoel Romero has terrifying reaction to Bisping ripping up Cuban flag

Last night, in the main event of UFC 213, Cuba’s Yoel Romero collided with Australia’s Robert Whittaker for the UFC’s interim middleweight title. As this interim title battle raged, the undisputed champion – and Romero’s biggest critic – Michael Bisping watched on from cage-side.

Mid-way through the fight, Bisping did his best to throw Romero off his game by withdrawing a small, Cuban flag from his pocket, ripping it up, and throwing the shreds in Romero’s direction. While this questionable outburst didn’t generate much of a reaction from Romero during the fight, he absolutely reacted to it at the post-fight press conference.

When asked by Ariel Helwani how he felt about Bisping’s flag ripping, the Cuban responded with the kind of intensity that will send chills creeping down your spine.

Luckily for Bisping, Romero ultimately came up short to Whittaker, slowing down after a strong first and second round to be out hustled through rounds three, four and and five. All three judges scored it 48-47 for Whittaker.

In defeat, Romero loses for just the second time as a pro. He has a eight-fight losing streak snapped by the loss. The cuban star has recently defeated names like Chris Weidman, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Lyoto Machida, Tim Kennedy, Brad Tavares and Derek Brunson.

Whittaker, meanwhile, is now expected to unify his interim title with Bisping’s undisputed title sometime later this year, when the champ’s nagging knee injury has healed up. The return of former UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, though, could put a wrench in these plans.

Do you think Michael Bisping and Yoel Romero will ever fight, or did Whittaker’s win put an end to their rivalry?
