After Sparring With Rockhold, Bisping Claims The Unofficial Strikeforce Title | UFC NEWS

By BJPENN.COM News - December 1, 2012

Fight fans, fighters and industry insiders consider the UFC roster host to the best fighters in the world.

In some instances fighters from other popular promotions have crossed over to the Octagon and done very well. Mark Munoz, Carlos Condit, Benson Henderson and Donald Cerrone all came from the WEC and proved they can hang with the big fish.

But what about Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold?

The man has been dominant throughout his MMA career. Unbeaten under the Strikeforce banner, the AKA trained middleweight was able to rise from the preliminary cards to the world title.

When ZUFFA closes Strikeforce for good in January many of their top talent will need to prove worthy of a spot on the UFC roster. For champions like Luke title shots and/or unification bouts will be a hot topic of discussion.

Top UFC middleweight fighter Michael Bisping has apparently had the opportunity to measure the talent level of Rockhold and as he shared with Spike TV, he all but took the mans belt in the training room.

“Luke Rockhold? By all accounts he and Lorenz Larkin should fight and the winner of that fight — if not both of them — go over to the UFC. Are they gonna come over and be number one contenders? I don’t think so. You’re in Strikeforce, come over to the UFC and earn your place. Let me put it like this: I’ve sparred with Luke Rockhold recently and let’s just say I’m the unofficial Strikeforce champion. Sorry Luke, but these are the facts.”
