Conor McGregor on Frankie Edgar: ‘Stink of Desperation and Begging’ – SLAMMED –
It was Frankie Edgar’s 5th straight win after a KO sent Chad Mendes back to TAM (Team Alpha Male) in Sacramento CA with his second straight defeat dropping 3 of his last four contest in total.
Edgar did everything within his power to get a title shot after the his victory over Mendes. But, it fell on deaf ears as Dana White and the UFC moved forward with a bigger event allowing Conor McGregor an opportunity to simultaneously hold two titles, a first for the organization.
McGregor was quoted by Yahoo Sports:
“Frankie has a little bit of desperation about him,” said the Irishman. “He went 0-2 in lightweight, got the chance to fight for the featherweight title and got the head slapped off him. Now he’s running around begging. It has a stink of desperation, so I’m going to leave him sit for a while.”
With Edgar on ice with no title shot in sight, will the former LW champ step into the octagon against a rising featherweight star with an 8 fight win streak in Max Holloway? If not Holloway, who else would be the next best fight for Edgar?
