Lamas to UFC: ‘Stop protecting McGregor from wrestlers’
Following UFC 180, where Ricardo Lamas scored a quick, and impressive submission win over Dennis Bermudez, Lamas called out Conor McGregor.
McGregor, who is slated to fight Dennis Siver in January, took note of Lamas’ callout, and eventually the two engaged in a Twitter beef (See that HERE).
Lamas spoke to MMAJunkie about his desire to fight McGregor, and explains why he’ll be ready to step in should Siver pull out of his bout against McGregor.
“I’m going to get right back in the gym and keep up with my conditioning, just in case,”
“He’s had a lot of smart things to say on Twitter, and that didn’t go unnoticed by me, so it’s time for the UFC to give him a wrestler, and stop protecting him from wrestlers. Maybe give his people to stop asking the UFC to not match him up with wrestlers.”
“McGregor does a good job of marketing himself, and he does bring in the numbers for pay-per-view buys. The guy has an entire country behind him, so that makes a huge difference. The UFC is a business, and if you make them money, they’re going to make you money.
