UFC 178 Results: McGregor Makes Quick Work of Poirier, Picks Up Round 1 TKO Win
Conor McGregor finished Dustin Poirier in less than two minutes then proceeded to call out the champion.
Conor McGregor proved again that he can back up whatever trash he talks leading up to fights. Dustin Poirier was knocked out in less than two minutes and McGregor proceeded to call out the UFC Featherweight Champion after his win.
McGregor caught Poirier off guard with a left hook behind the ear and Poirier dropped to the ground. Poirier was on all fours as McGregor picked his shots, landing two final blows before Herb Dean waved the fight off.
Poirier tried to protest the stoppage by saying the shot was in the back of the head. While the shot was technically in the back of the head, both fighters were in motion and it was obvious the illegal blow was not intentional.
