UFC Dublin Breaks Viewing Record On Irish Network
UFC Dublin was a card for the ages, with the Irish fighters all claiming victories, topped off by Conor McGregor’s impressive return to the Octagon, UFC Dublin did not disappoint. The card aired on UFC Fight Pass in the US, and most of the world, however in Ireland the card broke viewing records for a sporting event on 3E.
UFC Dublin averaged over 257,000 viewers on the channel and peaked at 340,000 during the main event clash between Conor McGregor and Diego Brandao. A total of 600,000 viewers tuned in for the event.
While this number is significantly lower than the ratings that fight cards in the US do, 3E is said to reach 3.5 million people each month, meaning UFC Dublin accounted for 17% of the channel’s viewership for this month.
TV3 Director of Content said in a release obtained by MMAJunkie:
“Saturday night’s fantastic UFC ratings prove that there is a real hunger for MMA in Ireland, in particular Ireland’s own star attraction and showman Conor McGregor.” TV3 Group Director of Content Jeff Ford stated. “3e was the first broadcaster to take the plunge and broadcast UFC live and free-to-air, and the feedback from our viewers has been great. We would like to thank our friends and colleagues from the Ultimate Fighting Championship for their support and help and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them in the future.”
