UFC Ottawa | Juan Adams gives scathing assessment of Greg Hardy

Tom Taylor - May 3, 2019

Heavyweight prospect Juan Adams, who is scheduled to fight Arjan Bhullar at UFC Ottawa this Saturday, is no fan of former football player Greg Hardy. Quite the opposite, in fact. Speaking to MMA Junkie recently, Adams gave a scathing assessment of Hardy’s debut UFC win, a TKO over the shockingly passive Dmitrii Smoliakov at UFC Fort Lauderdale.

Tyron Woodley wants title shot with win over Lawler

Tom Taylor - May 3, 2019

Tyron Woodley is no longer the UFC welterweight champ, having come up short to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235. Yet he believes he could be fighting for the belt again quite soon. Woodley is scheduled to take on Robbie Lawler — the man he knocked out to win the welterweight belt in 2016 — in the main event of UFC Minneapolis on June 29. If he can earn a second win over Lawler, he believes there will be no denying him a title shot next.

UFC Ottawa | Cub Swanson looks back on 'shock' of TJ Dillashaw drug test failure

Tom Taylor - May 3, 2019

Cub Swanson was as shocked as the rest of us when he found out his friend and training partner TJ Dillashaw had tested positive for EPO, an injectable only performance-enhancing drug. That being said, he says that he hand his teammates at Treigning Lab are attempting to forgive the former bantamweight champion. “I kind of found out like everybody else. It was quite a shock, because as far as our team, we have standards and stuff like that about being honest and going through stuff,” Swanson said during a scrum ahead of his UFC Ottawa fight with Shane Burgos (via MMA Junkie). “But he’s still a part of our team, and it’s a decision he made. We forgive him for it.”

Al Iaquinta details the special rule the UFC named after him

Tom Taylor - May 3, 2019

If you’ve stayed up to date with the UFC over the last couple of years, you’ve probably noticed there has been a little less swearing in fighters’ post-fight interviews. That’s because UFC fighters are diligently following the “Al Iaquinta Rule.” This rule was put into place shortly after its namesake Al Iaquinta unleashed a profanity-laced tired in one of his post-fight interviews, and apparently, UFC fighters are reminded of it before every card.

Donald Cerrone says there is a 'big misconception' about pay in fighting Conor McGregor

Cole Shelton - May 2, 2019

Donald Cerrone was so close to fighting Conor McGregor in what would have arguably been the biggest fight of his career. Had a fight with the Irish superstar come to fruition, many assumed Cerrone would have received a ‘red panty night’ for the occasion. However, apparently that was not the case. ‘Cowboy’ recently explained that a fight with McGregor would not have resulted in some multi million dollar payday.

Report | New UFC PPV model derailed return of Brock Lesnar

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

Despite dozens of recent reports to the contrary, Brock Lesnar will not be returning to the UFC’s Octagon for a heavyweight title super fight with Daniel Cormier. After months and months of anticipation, the fight reportedly fizzled out earlier this week, leading the UFC to schedule a Daniel Cormier vs. Stipe Miocic rematch instead. Speaking to ESPN, UFC President Dana White stated that this Cormier-Lesnar matchup was quashed because Lesnar decided he is “done” with mixed martial arts. According to Dave Meltzer of Wresting Observer Newsletter, however, it’s not quite that simple.

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

The official UFC rankings have been updated in the wake of last weekend’s action-packed UFC Fort Lauderdale card, and as expected, there have been a handful of notable changes.
