Cris Cyborg fires back at Dana White for suggesting she turned down a rematch with Amanda Nunes

Chris Taylor - June 29, 2019

It has been over six months since Amanda Nunes shocked the world by knocking out Cris Cyborg in just 51-seconds at UFC 232 in Los Angeles. After becoming the first female ‘champ champ’ in promotional history, Nunes declared that she was not interested in having an immediate rematch with Cyborg.

UFC 239 | Jon Jones says he is done taking things from 'good man' Daniel Cormier

Chris Taylor - June 29, 2019

Jon Jones is preparing to square off with Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC 239, but that hasn’t stopped questions regarding a potential trilogy fight with bitter rival Daniel Cormier. During a recent media day interview, ‘Bones’ was asked if he wanted to follow in the recent footsteps of Henry Cejudo and Amanda Nunes and become a promotional ‘champ champ’, this by challenging Daniel Cormier for the UFC heavyweight title.

Gilbert Melendez says Nick Diaz is training again

Adam Martin - June 28, 2019

One of the most popular fighters in the UFC may be on his way back to the Octagon. The last time we saw Nick Diaz fight was in January 2015 where he suffered a decision loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 183. The bout was later ruled a no-contest, this after both men failed drug tests. It’s been over four years since then and we haven’t heard much fight news from the Diaz camp. There were rumors of a Jorge Masvidal matchup back at UFC 235 in March, but that fight never happened. We continue to wait and see if Nick Diaz will ever return, and now, finally, it appears there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.

VIDEO | Max Holloway nails the 'Bottle Cap Challenge,' challenges John Mayer

Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019

The Internet loves a good challenge. From the charitable Ice Bucket Challenge to the potentially lethal Tide Pod Challenge, these things tend to go viral very quickly. If a recent Instagram post from UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is any indication, the Bottle Cap Challenge could be the next viral challenge to sweep the World Wide Web. This decidedly un-hip sportswriter is admittedly unsure what the Bottle Cap Challenge actually is, but in this instance, it seems to involve a brilliantly measured spinning back kick and an empty bottle of Tito’s Vodka.

Chael Sonnen explains why Jon Jones' DQ loss shouldn't be overturned

Fernando Quiles - June 28, 2019

Chael Sonnen is not in favor of having Jon Jones’ lone defeat overturned. Jones is widely considered to be the best pound-for-pound mixed martial artist in the world. He has gone 15-0, 1 NC in his last 16 outings and is a two-time UFC light heavyweight champion. That does not include his interim light heavyweight title win. Jones is set to defend his 205-pound gold against Thiago Santos at UFC 239 on July 6.

Dana White feels Henry Cejudo may want to defend UFC bantamweight title first

Fernando Quiles - June 28, 2019

UFC president Dana White wouldn’t be surprised if “champ-champ” Henry Cejudo defends his bantamweight gold first. Cejudo captured the bantamweight gold earlier this month. “Triple C” earned a third-round TKO victory over Marlon Moraes in the main event of UFC 238. Cejudo was already the flyweight champion going into the bout. While White has said that the men’s 125-pound division will stick around, Cejudo’s surgery could leave both the flyweight and bantamweight divisions at a standstill.

Dan Hardy outlines Thiago Santos' path to victory against Jon Jones

Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019

UFC analyst Dan Hardy, like many fight fans, recognizes that Thiago Santos faces a monumental task in his UFC 239 title fight with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones is far and away the more technical, versatile fighter, which would seemingly leave Santos with few paths to victory. A Thiago Santos victory is, of course, a possibility — however slim.

Joe Rogan speculates on why Conor McGregor hasn't fought recently

Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019

Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since he was walloped by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in early October. UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes he knows why the Irishman has been lingering on the sidelines. Rogan gave his take on McGregor’s lengthy absence on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. The commentator thinks the obscenely wealthy former two-division champ is just waiting for something he finds “fun.”

Junior dos Santos explains how he'll beat 'the most dangerous man in MMA today'

Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019

Junior dos Santos is going to have his hands full in the UFC Minneapolis main event, where he will take on arguably the hardest puncher in MMA history in Francis Ngannou. He knows full well how dangerous the task at hand is. “Ngannou is a really strong guy, has heavy hands,” dos Santos told MMA Fighting recently. “I think it’s no exaggeration to say he’s the most dangerous man in MMA today. A punch that connects, even if it only grazes, will knock you out. He’s a dangerous guy and I’m getting ready for that. I know his potential, the danger he offers in the fight, but that’s the type of challenge that excites me.
