More reasons to watch UFC Ottawa

Mike Straus - May 2, 2019

The UFC returns to the Great White North this Saturday with UFC Ottawa. Both Donald Cerrone and Al Iaquinta, who meet in the main event, are fan friendly fighters that always put on a show. Adding to the intrigue, these two men could potentially be going to war with each other for five rounds. The ninth ESPN+ offering will boast its fair share of Canadian fighters as well as some promising American talent.

Conor McGregor says he'll whoop Conan O'Brien and Mark Wahlberg in the same night

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

Conan O’Brien is one of many celebrities with a small ownership stake in the UFC. Mark Wahlberg is another. Yet former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor, far and away the biggest star in the organization’s history, doesn’t own a single piece of the pie. McGregor has been campaigning for a UFC ownership stake for some time, but so far, UFC President Dana White has been completely unreceptive to the idea.

Eddie Hearn opens up on 'highly inspirational' meeting with UFC boss Dana White

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

Earlier this week, UFC President Dana White and English boxing promoter Eddie Hearn crossed paths in Las Vegas. A photo of this meeting — shared to both of their Twitter accounts — caused a geyser of speculation on social media. Were they meeting to discuss White’s Zuffa boxing venture? Could one of Hearn’s boxers be crossing over to the UFC? The questions were endless…

Darren Till returns to Instagram with interesting message

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

After back-to-back losses and a brush with the law in Spain, UFC welterweight contender Darren Till deactivated his Instagram and Twitter accounts, evidently keen to keep a low profile. His hiatus from these social media channels did not last long.

UFC rankings update: Jack Hermansson, Corey Sandhagen make huge climbs

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

The official UFC rankings have been updated in the wake of last weekend’s action-packed UFC Fort Lauderdale card, and as expected, there have been a handful of notable changes. Most notably of all, as expected, is the significant climb of Jack Hermansson, who thrashed Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in the card’s main event.

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2019

Fresh off an impressive victory over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Jack Hermansson is ready for another big step up in the middleweight division. His preference, as he explained on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, is a fight with Yoel Romero — though he’s also interested in meeting Kelvin Gastelum or Chris Weidman in his next outing. “We want the big boys,” Hermansson said on the show. “I have three names in mind, Yoel Romero, Kelvin Gastelum and Chris Weidman, Those make sense for me.

Korean Zombie vs. Renato Moicano Agreed To For UFC Greenville

Nolan King - May 1, 2019

In need of bigger names to spice up their South Carolina debut, the UFC has reportedly turned to “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Renato Moicano. Raphael Marinho, of Brazilian outlet Combate, is reporting the two featherweights have verbally agreed to meet at UFC Greenville on June 22. The report also says it’s uncertain if the bout will be a five-round main event, or will fall earlier on the main card.

Donald Cerrone says he is no longer chasing Conor McGregor fight

Cole Shelton - May 1, 2019

Donald Cerrone will be taking on Al Iaquinta in the headliner of this weekend’s UFC Ottawa event. While Iaquinta has proven to be a top contender in the 155-pound division, a fight with ‘Raging Al’ wasn’t exactly what Cerrone had planned following his most recent win.

Odds: Daniel Cormier favored over Stipe Miocic in proposed rematch

Tom Taylor - May 1, 2019

On Tuesday night, ESPN reported that UFC heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier’s long-discussed showdown with WWE star Brock Lesnar is likely off the table for good. With this matchup nixed, Cormier is now expected to defend his title against the man he won it from in July 2018: Stipe Miocic. The fight is reportedly nearing finalization for UFC 241 on August 17 in Anaheim, California.

VIDEO | Paulie Malignaggi finds Conor McGregor mural, disrespect ensues

Tom Taylor - May 1, 2019

Paulie Malignaggi and Conor McGregor share one of the most high-profile beefs in combat sports. Given the animosity between the retired boxer and the former two-division UFC champion, it should come as no surprise that Malignaggi had an interesting reaction when he encountered a McGregor-inspired mural out in the world. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw5P09XhOcN/ As he walked past this mural, Malignaggi was asked how he feels about McGregor. He responded by spitting on the mural. See it in the video above.

Curtis Blaydes sends message to Brock Lesnar: 'F**k you'

Tom Taylor - May 1, 2019

Last night, reports surfaced suggesting that a long-discussed heavyweight title fight between reigning champ Daniel Cormier and WWE star Brock Lesnar is off the table. The reason, these reports stated, is that the pro wrestling export Lesnar has decided he’s done with mixed martial arts. Heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes isn’t happy to hear this. There hasn’t been a heavyweight title fight since November of 2018, when Cormier defended his title in a short-notice showdown with Derrick Lewis. Granted, that’s partly due to Cormier’s lingering injuries, but it’s also due the uncertainty surrounding this potential Lesnar vs. Cormier fight. Therein lies the issue for Curtis Blaydes.

Ronaldo 'Jacare' Souza issues statement after loss to Jack Hermansson

Tom Taylor - May 1, 2019

On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC Fort Lauderdale, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza risked his promised middleweight title shot in a fight with short-notice replacement opponent Jack Hermansson. Unfortunately for the former Strikeforce champ and his fans, this gamble did not pay off. Instead, the 39-year-old was walloped to a decision loss by his opponent and his title dreams were once again dashed — perhaps for a final time. Speaking on Instagram on Tuesday, Jacare issued a statement on this loss. He seems to be in good spirits.
