Conor McGregor announces his return: “See you in the octagon”

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor took to Twitter earlier this evening where he announced his intentions of returning to fight in the octagon. The Irish superstar, who had made some controversial posts yesterday evening which were later deleted, issued a form of apology in today’s tweet. In addition, McGregor seemingly announcing his intentions of returning to the UFC.

UFC 237 is set to be the UFC’s big return card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 11. The card is looking to be a good one but unfortunately, it has now taken a hit. It was first reported by Combate on Wednesday that Australia’s Jessica-Rose Clark had been pulled from her bantamweight match-up with Talita Bernardo (6-3) who is now expected to face off with Brazilian newcomer, Melissa Gatto (6-0-2).
UFC Rochester gets welterweight scrap between Neil Magny and Vicente Luque

UFC Rochester is set to go down on May 18 and the card continues to take shape. It was recently announced by the UFC that top 15 welterweights, Neil Magny (21-7) and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos were to do battle in the night’s co-main event… However, that was quickly shut down by both fighters as false.

Lightweight arch rivals Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been ramping up the trash talk over the last few days, and the latter just took things to a new and unprecedented level. Speaking on Twitter, Khabib Nurmagomedov boldly referred to Conor McGregor as a “rapist,” referencing the sexual assault accusations the Irishman is currently facing. He also shared a picture of McGregor and a woman who has claimed to be the mother of one of his children.

Lightweight rivals Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor have really been ramping up the trash talk lately, and that trend isn’t showing any signs of stopping. On Wednesday morning, McGregor took to Twitter where he reacted to the news that UFC heavyweight Ruslan Magomedov, a training partner and countryman of Nurmagomedov, has been hit with a lifetime ban by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

The former champion is determined to reclaim the UFC welterweight belt, and seeks to emulate Georges St-Pierre as he looks to rebound from his setback against Usman.

Shortly after UFC 235 wrapped up, there was a heated confrontation inside The Palms casino, as UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and his manager Ali Abdelaziz confronted top welterweight contender Colby Covington. This confrontation ultimately got somewhat violent, as video revealed the manager Abdelaziz actually took a swing at Covington.

One of the more popular shows the UFC has produced has been Dana White’s Lookin’ For a Fight series, in which White, Matt Serra, and Din Thomas travel the world visiting regional promotions and looking for the next fighter to sign to the UFC. In the most recent season, White used the series to find prospects that he could add to the Tuesday Night Contender Series as a way to give fighters their chance to earn a UFC contract. The Lookin’ For a Fight series has helped the UFC sign the likes of Jared Gordon, Bobby Moffett, Sage Northcutt, Mickey Gall, just to name a few.

The main event of the UFC’s April 20 debut in St. Petersburg, Russia, has experienced a pretty significant change. The card was originally supposed to be headlined by a heavyweight showdown between former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem and former Bellator heavyweight champ Alexander Volkov. But now, Volkov has been forced off the card and replaced by Russian grappler Alexey Oleynik. This news was first reported by Ariel Helwani of ESPN.

Yesterday afternoon, at a press conference in New York, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) fighters Paulie Malignaggi and Artem Lobov got into a heated scuffle (see it here). This scuffle began with some face-to-face trash talk, and reached a climax when Malignaggi slapped Lobov and the pair had to be separated.
