Last night, we were hit by the unfortunate news that Dustin Poirier has been forced out of his anticipated lightweight contender bout with Nate Diaz, which was scheduled for UFC 230 this November 3 in New York City. From there, the MMA community quickly began brainstorming potential replacement opponents for Diaz. Apparently, however, we can call off the search.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor are both facing disciplinary action from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) following their post-fight brawl at Saturday’s UFC 229 card, per MMA Fighting. This brawl began shortly after Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor by fourth-round submission. The Russian champion then vaulted out of the cage and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, sparking absolute chaos between the two teams.

Shortly after submitting Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on Saturday night, UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov climbed out of the Octagon and dive-bombed McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. Nurmagomedov and Danis then engaged in a brief fight, as McGregor began to scuffle with Nurmagomedov’s entourage inside the Octagon. Despite this wild scuffle, Dillon Danis was reportedly out enjoying Las Vegas’ night life shortly thereafter. This according to top UFC featherweight contender Brian Ortega.

Last Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 229, Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov finally stepped into the cage together. Ahead of this fight, McGregor hit Nurmagomedov with a near ceaseless stream of trash talk, some of which was even directed at Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap. While Khabib Nurmagomedov clearly didn’t take kindly to Conor McGregor’s choice to involve topics like family and faith in his pre-fight trash talk, his father Abdulmanap says he has forgiven the Irish MMA superstar after speaking to the aksakals (male elders) of his community.

Last Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 229, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon after two long years away, as he attempted to reclaim the UFC lightweight belt from undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately for McGregor and his dedicated team, this mission didn’t go as planned. Instead, the Irish MMA star was soundly walloped en route to a fourth-round submission loss. Although he was able to steal a round from Nurmagomedov — something nobody has been able to do in a long time — it was not enough, and he’ll now have to return to the drawing board.
