Robert Whittaker has provided an update following his first-round submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev. Whittaker’s bout with Chimaev served as the UFC 308 co-headliner. While Chimaev winning the fight wasn’t all too surprising for MMA fans, Whittaker’s quick tap out had many wondering what went wrong. It became apparent that “The Reaper” suffered an injury.

Max Holloway might be on the move back to 155 pounds, and it could be permanent. Holloway challenged Ilia Topuria in the main event of UFC 308. The featherweight title was at stake inside Etihad Arena in Abi Dhabi. Topuria became the first man to knock Holloway out. “El Matador” put the future UFC Hall of Famer away in the third round.

The Octagon returned to Abu Dhabi for today’s UFC 308 event and five fighters ended up walking home with performance bonuses. The pay-per-view fight card was headlined by a featherweight title fight featuring Max Holloway challenging Ilia Topuria. The contest proved to be a thrilling back and forth affair for as long as it lasted. Ilia Topuria seemed to struggle to find his range in the opening rounds due to the Hawaiian’s height advantage and movement. However, he eventually found a home for his big right hand and ended up dropping Max Holloway in the early moments of round 3. Although Max got back to his feet and started firing back punches, Topuria kept his foot on the gas and eventually connects with a massive left hook that sent ‘Blessed’ crashing to the canvas (see that here). Some follow up shots were all the referee needed to see to call a stop to the contest.

Today’s UFC 308 event was headlined by a men’s featherweight title fight featuring Ilia Topuria taking on Max Holloway. Topuria (16-0 MMA) was looking to earn his first career title defense when he took on the Hawaiian this afternoon. ‘El Matador’ had captured the UFC’s coveted featherweight title this past February at UFC 298, scoring a second-round knockout victory over Alex Volkanovski (see that here).

Today’s UFC 308 event was co-headlined by a highly anticipated middleweight showdown between Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker. Chimaev (14-0 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since scoring a majority decision win over Kamaru Usman one year ago at UFC 294. Prior to earning that razor thin victory, ‘Borz’ was coming off a first-round stoppage victory over Kevin Holland at UFC 279.
