Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic announced his retirement from mixed martial arts after losing to Jon Jones last night. Throughout the course of his career, Stipe Miocic has been defying the odds. He managed to overcome the expectations of the masses several times, to the point where he was eventually able to become a world champion in the UFC. He will go down as a two-time champion and, regardless of what happened on Saturday, the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Nick Diaz will no longer be a part of the UFC 310 card. The Stockton legend was expected to share the Octagon with Vicente Luque at the UFC’s year-end pay-per-view. Diaz, who hasn’t competed since September 2021, was looking to score his first pro MMA win since 2011.

Tom Aspinall has declared that he believes a title showdown with Jon Jones is the biggest fight that can be made in the UFC. While Jon Jones may have beaten Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last night, a lot of people were still focusing their attention on Tom Aspinall. The interim heavyweight champion has been pushing and pushing for a title shot against the undisputed champion Jones, but up to this point, his wish has not been granted.

He defended the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309. “Bones'” methodical approach during the fight led to a dominant performance, scoring a third-round TKO finish.

While he was scheduled to face Michael Chandler earlier this year, the “Notorious” one pulled out due to an injury. The Octagon returned to Madison Sqaure Garden for tonight’s UFC 309 event, and five fighters wound up taking home $50k bonuses. The fight card was headlined by a heavyweight title bout featuring Jon Jones taking on former champion Stipe Miocic. The contest proved to be another dominant performance from the greatest MMA fighter of all time in Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ nearly finished Stipe Miocic in the opening round with some brutal elbows, but the former champ showcased his heart to survive the initial onslaught. While Miocic did better in round two, it was still clearly Jon’s fight to lose. Then, in round three, ‘Bones’ landed a spinning back kick that put Miocic down for good. Some follow up ground and pound was all Jones needed to end the fight.

Jones (28-1 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since claiming the then-vacant UFC heavyweight title with a first-round submission victory over Ciryl Gane in March of 2023. ‘Bones’ was originally scheduled to square off with Miocic one-year ago at UFC 285 but was ultimately forced to withdraw from that contest after suffering a torn pectoral in training.
