Miller: ‘Cutting Weight May Be Taking Years Off My Life’
In a very interesting and insightful article written by Scott Harris, for Bleacher Report, UFC lightweight Jim Miller talked about his weight cut procedure and how miserable it really is. He also mentions that it might not seem so now, but the things fighters do to cut weight for every fight might end up taking years off of their lives in the long run.
The scary part is that Miller admits compared to some other fighters, his cut isn’t even considered to be on the ‘extreme’ side.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I think it has definitely had an effect on my body. It’s something I don’t feel today, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it took a couple years off my life.”
“It’s kind of miserable. You get kind of foggy. It’s hard to make decisions. I get a headache, a little bit of weakness.”
“My cut, is not on the extreme end.”
