UFC 191 Medical Report: Arlovski And Mir Face Potential 6 Month Suspensions
UFC 191 didn’t bring us the slugfest we were expecting from former UFC heavyweight champions Frank Mir and Andrei Arlovksi, who met in the night’s co-main event.
Instead we got three rounds of lackluster action, leading to a split decision win for Arlovski. Unfortunately, both fighters seemed to have walked away from the fight with hand injures and could possibly face 6 month suspensions. Today the Nevada State Athletic Commission released their full medial report for UFC 191.
In the report is states that both heavyweights need to get clearance from doctors regarding hand issues, or the won’t be able to compete until March 5. Arlovski also needs to get an x-ray on his.
Also, Alex Chambers, who came out recently and said she blew her knee out during her fight with Paige VanZant, also could be out for six months.
Here’s the full rundown:
- John Dodson: suspended until Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for small laceration on nose
- Andrei Arlovski: must have right hand X-rayed within three days; if X-ray positive for injury or no X-ray done suspended pending doctor’s clearance until March 5. Minimum suspension Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for left eyelid laceration.
- Frank Mir: needs doctor clearance for right hand or suspended until March 5; Minimum suspension Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for eyebrow laceration.
- Corey Anderson: needs dental clearance or no contest until March 5 for loose teeth
- Jan Blachowicz: suspended until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6
- Alex Chambers: must have MRI of left knee to rule out ACL injury or no contest until March 5
- Francisco Rivera: suspended until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6
- Jessica Andrade: suspended until Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for “tough fight”
- Clay Collard: suspended until Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for “tough fight”
- Joe Riggs: needs CT scan of face/orbital bone and needs clearance by ear/nose/throat or maxillofacial surgeon; minimal suspension until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6
- Ron Stallings: suspended until Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for facial lacerations
- Nazareno Malegarie: suspended until Oct. 6 with no contact until Sept. 27 for facial lacerations, needs orbital CT scan and clearance from ear/nose/throat doctor or no contest until March 5; minimal suspension until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6
- Joaquin Silva: needs orbital CT scan and clearance from ear/nose/throat doctor or no contest until March 5; minimal suspension until Oct. 21 with no contact until Oct. 6
