Watching Floyd Mayweather defeat Manny Pacquiao may have been the most anti-climactic way to finish a fight night in recent memory. The build up was amazing and the fight was years in the making, but fighters and fans alike agree that it did not live up to the hype.

Junior dos Santos enjoyed the way the fight played out, but admitted that he thought mixed martial arts was officially bigger than boxing after that night.

While on the MMA Hour, dos Santos said, “When I can I watch it because I love boxing, I really like to watch a boxing fight, but it’s hard to be watching, especially here in Brazil. When I can, for sure I watch it. For sure, the UFC and MMA became way bigger than boxing. Of course, the athletes in boxing make a lot of money, that’s the biggest difference. For sure, we are as famous as they are. We are bigger than boxing now.”

Junior dos Santos is correct when he mentions that the biggest difference between the fame of boxers and MMA fighters is the pay they earn. Mayweather just earned a nine-figure check for his fight with “Pac-Man” while fighters in the UFC are complaining about their Reebok pay.
