‘Alexander Gustafsson’s crowning achievement is losing, he can’t beat me’
Daniel Cormier is set to defend his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Alexander Gustafsson in October at UFC 192 and he’s already starting the trash talk. DC was a guest on former pro wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast and laid the verbal smack down on Gustafsson.
Austin brought up the fact that Gus almost defeated Jon Jones, a man that DC was handily defeated by. Cormier’s response was brutal and honest:
“Alexander Gustafsson is a guy whose crowning achievement in the sport of mixed martial arts is fighting somebody close and losing. That’s what defines Alexander Gustafsson. Because of that, my ability and championship mettle will carry me in a fight where— I’m not a guy who’s known for fighting someone close. I’m known for winning the Strikeforce Grand Prix. I’m known for winning the UFC championship. I’m known for being an olympian. Alexander Gustafsson is a guy that’s known for fighting someone close and because of that, he can’t beat me.”
