‘All the fans want to see me fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk’
Joanne Calderwood went back to her winning ways this past Saturday when she dominated Cortney Casey on her way to a unanimous decision victory. Calderwood and Casey brought over 10,000 fans to their feet with their “Fight of the Night” performance and “JoJo” is looking to ride the wave of momentum toward a shot at the title.
Calderwood addressed a potential fight with Joanna Jedrzejczyk at the post-fight press conference.
“Yeah, if that fight happens, I don’t think both of us will be taking it to the ground,” Calderwood said. “All the fans want to see that fight, and obviously, speaking for myself, I want to see that fight, because she’s put on a master class with other girls, so it’s a fight that excites me.”
Jedrzejczyk sports the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship and it looks like she may hold on to it for a long time. Her most recent performance against Jessica Penne in June won her the respect of UFC fighters across the board, including Ronda Rousey.
“I’ve just lost and just won tonight, so basically, maybe another win or two — it’s up to the UFC… “Yeah, I would be excited for that fight and it would be a standup war,” Calderwood said.
