BALL DROPPED! UFC Pushes Thomson To The Side, Books Makdessi vs. Cerrone
Despite all the buzz surrounding Josh Thomson being a possible replacement for the injured Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC officials have chosen to go a different route.
John “The Bull” Makdessi will be stepping into the octagon to face Donald Cerrone at UFC 187, ESPN reports. Makdessi just fought this past weekend at UFC 186 where he dominated UFC newcomer Shane Campbell.
Nurmagomedov was originally scheduled to face Cerrone in May, but he was forced off the card after suffering a leg injury during training. Among all the fighters who offered to step in for the injured Russian, Thomson’s name was at the top of the heap.
