Ben Rothwell FINALLY gets fight booked with top-ranked heavyweight
It’s been quite the journey for Ben Rothwell from his June win over Matt Mitrione until now.
Rothwell has been constantly looking for a fight with any top ranked UFC heavyweight, however until now he hasn’t been able to get one.
After Stipe Miocic pulled out of his UFC FN: Dublin bout against Rothwell, Rothwell campaigned for a fight against Arlovski.
The UFC then booked Miocic vs. Arlovski for a later date, leaving Rothwell hanging.
Now, ‘Big Ben’ will fight Josh Barnett on January 30th at UFC on FOX 18 according to UFC.com.
Barnett is coming off a decision win over Roy Nelson back in September which earned him ‘performance of the night’ honors.
The fight card at this time is as follows:
Anthony Johnson vs. Ryan Bader
Josh Barnett vs. Ben Rothwell
Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine
Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Joaquim Silva
George Sullivan vs. Alexander Yakovlev
Tony Martin vs. Felipe Olivieri
Alex Caceres vs. Masio Fullen
