Benson Henderson vs. Thiago Alves headlines UFN 79 in Korea
A welterweight bout between Benson Henderson and Thiago Alves will headline November’s UFC Fight Night 79 event in South Korea.
UFC officials announced the news on Sunday.
Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (22-5 MMA), who is of Korean heritage, was last seen in action at February’s UFC Fight Night 60 event, where he scored a fourth-round submission victory over Brandon Thatch. Prior to the win, “Smooth” was coming off back-to-back losses in the UFC’s lightweight division against opponents Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone.
Meanwhile, Thiago Alves (21-10 MMA) will be looking to rebound, this after suffering a TKO loss to Carlos Condit in his most recent performance at UFC Fight Night 67 in May. Prior to the setback, “Pitbull” had scored back-to-back victories over Jordan Mein and Seth Baczynski respectively.
UFC Fight Night 79 takes place November 28 live from the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea.
The event includes a heavyweight bout between Mirko Filipovic and Anthony Hamilton, as well as a welterweight bout between Jorge Masvidal and Dong Hyun Kim.
