BJ Penn Explains Mike Dolce & Nik Lentz Call Out

On Wednesday’s episode of ‘UFC Tonight’ UFC Hall of Fame fighter and two-division champion BJ Penn joined hosts Michael Bisping and Kenny Florian for a one-on-one interview.

At first it seemed like he was there to talk about life outside the cage and what he’s been up to since his retirement, but then, when asked about the situation with Mike Dolce stemming from his last fight, Penn decided to issue a challenge to the ‘nutritionist.’

Penn said that he wanted Dolce to get his ‘boy’, and UFC fighter, Nik Lentz ready for a scrap at featherweight and he’d come out of retirement for a grudge match.

“I’m sick and tired of hearing about Mike Dolce,” Penn told UFC Tonight.  I’ll put a challenge out right now: You go get Nik Lentz, your boy, bring him down to 145 and I’ll run right through him in one round and then I’ll find you in the back and smash you. If Dolce says I don’t train, let’s do this. I would come out for this. Some things were said, got me heated. I worked with him for 20 days and paid him $1000 a day. I’m sick and tired of hearing that.”

“At 145. Let’s do this. That was my last fight. I had a very bad showing. I’m ready for something like this. I haven’t been in a gym for two years. I’ll come back for the grudge match, then we’ll see what happens.”

After his UFC Tonight appearance, Penn talked exclusively to BJPENNHAWAIINEWS.COM about the decision to lay down the challenge, saying, “I’ve been getting irritated about Dolce talking about how good at weight cutting he is, and how he’s a master of MMA coaching and how I didn’t train for my last fight. Let’s see how good he is when IV’s are gone.”

‘The Prodigy’ also explained his decision to come back at 145, which he’s only fought at once, in his last fight.

“Yeah, my last fight at 145 ended up being a disgrace, and Dolce ran his mouth about it, that’s the main reason for the challenge”

So, will he be making a full, multiple-fight comeback? According to Penn he’s only focused on this one fight right now, and after that he’ll see what happens.

“First things first, take care of this business, then we talk story.”
