Cain Velasquez Wants To Be A Role Model To Hispanic Children
UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is one of the most dominant fighters in the UFC, and one of the top ‘pound for pound’ fighters in the world.
That being said, Velasquez admitted that he didn’t have any hero’s growing up that were of the same nationality.
He spoke to Fox Sports about his desire to fill that void for young Hispanic children.
“I didn’t have a hero playing in sports that looked like me. I loved football as a kid. Of course, I loved boxing. But I didn’t see any heavyweights like me. I didn’t have those dreams.”
When it comes to Velasquez bearing that weight on his own shoulders, he said:
“I’m not really sure. I’m hoping to be.”
