CALLED OUT! Rothwell Wants Arlovski For Next Fight
Heavyweight Ben Rothwell put the rest of the division on notice last night after he viciously finished Matt Mitrione inside a round. Mitrione was looking to kick Rothwell out of the top ten with a victory at UFC Fight Night 68, but Rothwell had other plans in mind and will likely jump up a spot after his win.
Now, almost seven years after their first bout in Affliction, Rothwell wants to avenge his loss to Andrei Arlovski in his next fight.
“[Arlovski’s] ranked fourth, and some people are already talking about him getting the next title shot, so I think him and I should fight next,” Rothwell stated during the post fight press conference. “I know he’s got a little bit of an injury, so he’s going to take some time off. I’ll be ready for him when he heals.”
Stipe Miocic is likely next in line for a shot at UFC Heavyweight gold and Rothwell is fine with that; he feels Miocic has deserved the shot at the next champion. “I think Stipe has built up a good case. I think he should have the next challenge, and I think Andrei Arlovski and I should dance.”
Do you think Arlovksi vs. Rothwell would make for a good top contender fight after Miocic gets a shot at the title? Do you think Arlovski should jump over Miocic and be next in line? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
