Castillo Gets New Gig Opposite Charlie Brenneman
Earlier this week, Team Alpha Male’s Danny Castillo, was pulled from his scheduled UFC 172 bout against Vallie-Flagg in favor of Takanori Gomi.
Now we know the reason.
Still keeping a slot on the UFC 172 card, Castillo now meets Brenneman in a lightweight bout.
UFC 172 is set to go down on April 26 from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. The pay-per-view event features several notable bouts including Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira for the UFC’s light-heavyweight title.
Castillo last saw action on the losing side of a ‘Fight of the Night’ winning bout against Edson Barboza. It was a majority decision for Barboza, but in the first round Castillo came extremely close to stopping the bout with strikes. The loss snapped a two-fight win-streak and gave Danny a 6-3 overall UFC record.
Brenneman recently saw his return to UFC action after a stint as a lightweight on the regional circuit proved him worthy once more. In his UFC return, this past January, Charlies four-fight win streak got thrashed when Beneil Dariush ruined his UFC homecoming and submitted Brenneman in the first round.
The UFC 172 card is shaping up as follows:
Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira – for light heavyweight title
Phil Davis vs. Anthony Johnson
Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine
Tim Boetsch vs. Luke Rockhold
Joseph Benavidez vs. Timothy Elliott
Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller
Joe Ellenberger vs. Yancy Medeiros
Takanori Gomi vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg
Charlie Brenneman vs. Danny Castillo
Andre Fili vs. Max Holloway
Bethe Correia vs. Jessamyn Duke
