Gadelha speaks out on injury, claims she will be ready for Jedrzejczyk
Claudia Gadelha’s impressive performance against Jessica Aguilar at “UFC 190” turned some heads and made people question how another fight between her and “Joanna Champion” would go. In their first meeting, Jedrzejczyk would barely get the best of Gadelha in a split decision. Both women have gone on a tear since then and her victory over Aguilar earned her a shot at the gold… or so she she was told by Dana White.
Gadelha suffered a finger injury during her fight with Aguilar, however, and requested that her championship opportunity be moved to December or January so she could fully recover.
After it was announced that Ronda Rousey would be taking on Holly Holm in the main-event of UFC 195, Jedrzejczyk/Gadelha was rumored to be the co main-event for the card.
Gadelha’s title shot was almost taken away from her, however, when Robbie Lawler fell injured and “UFC 193” needed a new main event. White thought about moving Jedrzejczyk to the November card where Gadelha wouldn’t be ready, but ultimately decided against it and will be sending Rousey and Holm to Melbourne.
Now, Gadelha wants to clear the air on her injury status and make sure the world knows that she is NOT injured… despite her admitting she was earlier in the year. Check out her message below:
Guys, I'm not injured. I'm taking care of my finger that I hurt in my fight with Aguilar. That's it. I will be ready when Joanna is ready.
