Cody Garbrandt discusses what caused the scuffle with McGregor on TUF
If you caught the latest episode of TUF, you saw the brawl that almost erupted between the two teams with Cody Garbrandt and Conor McGregor getting in each other’s face after words were exchanged.
Garbrandt spoke with the TUF Talk podcast and revealed a little more on what happened and his opinion on McGregor.
“So what happened was Conor started talking shit about TJ and TJ literally just went back to the coffee room and we’re like, ‘Why wouldn’t you confront him about here?’ and (Andre) Fili said, ‘You want to sing that song when TJ’s gone. Why wouldn’t you say it to his face?’ Conor looks back and says, ‘Where’s that little twerp? I’ll say it to his face.’ I was kind of laughing about it,” Garbrandt said in the podcast.
“He said: ‘What are you going to do about it? What are you twerps going to do about it?’ He said it the second time, and I said, ‘I’ll do something about it.’ He stood up and he was like, ‘Do something,’ so I ended up shoving him.”
“It was just the heat of the moment. I’m never going to shy away from a fight,” Garbrandt said proudly.
Regarding his feelings towards McGregor, Garbrandt says he likes what the charismatic fighter has brought to the sport. “To be honest, I can’t say at the end of the experience of TUF that I hated the guy. I don’t hate the guy at all. Some of the shit he was saying was funny.”
If things got down to it in that moment, what do you think would have happened? Who do you think would have got the best of the exchange?
