Condit hoping for “legendary” fight against Lawler
The last time UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler took to the cage fight fans got to witness one of the greatest fights in mixed martial arts history, as “Ruthless” went to war with Rory MacDonald for the better part of five rounds before eventually earning a TKO victory over the talented Canadian late in the fight.
Robbie Lawler is now preparing to defend his UFC gold against former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit.
“The Natural Born Killer” was very impressed by the blood bath that was “Lawler vs. MacDonald 2”, and is hoping to deliver a similar “legendary” fight when he squares off with “Ruthless” in the main event of UF 195 on January 2 in Las Vegas. His words via the Albuquerque Journal:
“Robbie and I are both strikers. We both go for broke, look to finish competitors. That’s going to make for a fight that I’m hoping is legendary. That’s the kind of fight I want to be in. I want to be in fights that people will remember for the rest of their lives. As a competitor, I was impressed [by Lawler vs. MacDonald]. I thought those guys put on a hell of a fight, skill-wise, but even more than that, just their toughness, their resiliency, their will to just get in there and not quit no matter what – it was inspiring.”
Do you think that this January’s welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit could be as good or better than this past July’s “Lawler vs. MacDonald 2” bout? Sound off Penn Nation!
