Cormier Thinks Title Fight Experience Is Key Against “Rumble”
This Saturday, Daniel Cormier will have a second chance in two fights at striking gold. Cormier was fortunate enough to land the empty spot caused by Jon Jones’ absence and will be challenging Anthony “Rumble” Johnson for the vacated UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.
Cormier mentioned on “UFC Tonight” that he thinks his experience in title fights, mainly his victory in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, will give him the edge when he goes up against Johnson.
“It’s not about his power against my wrestling. If I have to stand there against him for 25 minutes, I am confident I can get it done. I won the Strikeforce Championship. I’ve fought for the UFC championship. He’s never experienced anything like this before. I believe in myself. I’m smarter knowing that if I don’t do it the right way, Anthony Johnson could just possibly, maybe be champion.”
