Dana White: If Wanderlei’s healthy, Sonnen vs. Silva will be UFC 167′s co-main event

As an in-studio guest on Wednesday’s “FOX Sports Live,” UFC president Dana White was asked to comment on a potential fight between Chael Sonnen (29-13-1 MMA, 7-6 UFC) and Wanderlei Silva (35-12-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC).

As you probably recall, “The American Gangster” called out the former PRIDE middleweight champion after earning a first-round submission win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at last weekends UFC Fight Night 26 event in Boston.

The UFC president had this to say about the potential bout:

“We can do that fight. The question, I think, is Wanderlei Silva is out until the beginning of the year. I’m not sure if he’s healthy. But if he’s healthy, I will definitely make that fight, and I will definitely make it the co-main event of UFC 167.”

UFC 167 takes place November 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC) and top contender Johny Hendricks (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC).
