Dana White: It’s ‘stupid’ to question Ronda Rousey’s UFC 193 gameplan
Ronda Rousey stepped into the octagon on Saturday evening at “UFC 193” with all the momentum in the world behind her, and with good reason. She has decimated every single opponent that stood across from her in the octagon and bookies and critics alike expected her to do the same to challenger Holly Holm.
Everybody from Joe Rogan to Dana White were shocked when they watched the series of events unfold during the fight that concluded with Rousey on her back, staring at the lights. She tried to stand up and out-strike a world-class striker in Holm and she had every reason to think she had the ability to do so. She has knocked out several women in the octagon and she was told she looked fantastic all throughout her training camp, which may have been the case. The issue is that Holm was simply better and outclassed the champion in every aspect of the fight.
Fans questioned Rousey’s gameplan, but UFC President Dana White dismissed any doubt that Rousey walked into the octagon with a bad strategy. “If Ronda went out there and ran after [Holly Holm] like a maniac and knocked her out? ‘Ronda’s the best ever. Ronda’s this, that.’ Ronda goes out and this happens tonight, ‘the gameplan was all wrong; this was all wrong’,” White said during the post fight press conference.
White continued, “To sit here now and question the gameplan is just as stupid as the people who thought this wasn’t a good fight.”
