Documentary on Reza Madadi to air in Sweden in 2016 (Trailer)

Reza Madadi made his return to the UFC this past Saturday at ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ where he lost via unanimous decision to Norman Parke. The loss was the first time Madadi stepped into the Octagon in over 2 years, and also served as his first bout back in the UFC after being released due to legal troubles.

Madadi spent 14 months in a Swedish prison for aggravated burglary, which resulted in the UFC releasing him while he served his prison sentence and took care of his legal issues.

A film crew followed Madadi around during the last two-plus years during the tumultuous period of his life. Despite Madadi not being very well known in the United States, he is one of the most recognizable fighters in Sweden.

Documentary producer Martin Sandin spoke to BloodyElbow about the film:

“We have followed him for over two years. Reza’s fate is fascinating. He came from nothing, built himself a successful career and lost everything again. Now he has a chance at revenge. The documentary portrays an exciting and complex person. I think many of us can relate and see some of ourselves in his struggle,”

Madadi spoke about his troubles saying:

“It was complete chaos, as if an atomic bomb had landed in my life.”

The documentary will air online at Sportbladet.se in early 2016, and a Kickstarter campaign has also been set up.
