Faber Pumped For Caceras Fight: I’m Not Scared Of Anything

By BJPENN.COM News - July 3, 2014

When it was announced that Urijah Faber, a three time UFC title challenger, and former WEC champion would fight Alex Caceras at UFC 175, many MMA fans were left scratching their heads. Despite Caceras coming off a big win over a previously undefeated Sergio Pettis, “Bruce Leeroy” just hasn’t fought the caliber of opponents Faber has, but Urijah Faber doesn’t care about that.

Faber spoke to MMAJunkie about how even though there isn’t much of an upside to fighting Caceras, he’s still taking his opponent very seriously.

“My whole last year was filled with that. Iuri Alcantara, Ivan Menjivar, (Michael) McDonald, Scottie Jorgensen. When you’re in a position I’m in – I’ve been in the sport a long time and been a world champion – that’s just the reality of it. You’r either scared to play or not scared to play. I’m not scare of anything.”

Faber, who has never lost a non-title fight, is considered a 12-to-1 favorite in the betting lines, but Faber says Caceras is more dangerous than oddsmakers give him credit for.

“I think he’s a guy that has dangerous weapons,” Faber said. “He’s not afraid to try. A lot of people count themselves out before they even start. He’s the type of guy that goes in with offense. He lands big punches. He does submissions. He’ll move all-around. In my opinion, those are the most dangerous guys to fight: guys that are really there to fight.”
