Headliners Untested — UFC Skips Drug Screenings For Condit, Alves
Reports have come out from both Carlos Condit and his opponent Thiago Alves saying that they have not been drug tested prior to their fight this Saturday in Brazil.
According to MMAJunkie, both fighters confirmed the reports and the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA or CABMMA, also say they have not done any drug test and will only be tested, like all of the fighters on the event, when they show up on fight day.
“We have not drug tested Carlos and Thiago yet; no ‘camp’ tests have been done for this event. All fighters will be tested upon arrival at arena on fight night through urine – anabolic steroids, stimulants, diuretics/other masking agents and drugs of abuse.”
Condit isn’t sure why he wasn’t tested, but says he supports the drug policies that the UFC is putting into place.
“Maybe they don’t have the logistics down here (in Brazil) or it wasn’t a big enough fight, but I definitely didn’t get tested. I would be open to whatever they want to do. I fully support what they’re dong in regards to drug testing in terms of the testing policy. I’m glad they’re doing it, but I don’t know (why I wasn’t tested).”
