‘Heart Attack or KO, Iaquinta and I Will Put On a FIGHT!’
Bobby Green is never one to hold back his thoughts or attacks when it comes to a fight inside of the octagon. Currently scheduled to fight “Raging” Al Iaquinta at UFC Fight Night 71 in July, Green plans to leave it all in the cage or die trying.
“I’m gonna stand in the middle of the cage and I’m gonna go after Al Iaquinta,” Green told MMAHour. “I’m not gonna stop until he stops or I stop. There’s not gonna be no stop. There is no stop. I’m going and I’m going and I’m going until one of our hearts falls out. Somebody better have a f****** heart attack or a knockout. That’s what I’m looking for.”
Green’s run in the UFC has hit a bit of a speed bump after suffering a decision loss to Edson Barboza. Before the loss, Green was on the fast track to the top of the division with four wins in a row over the likes of Josh Thomson and Pat Healy. Recently, Green has been paired up with fighters who go the distance rather than stand and bang.
“These guys all think they’re gonna get in there and do what they want to do and once they realize what I’m doing in there and what the games are and what I brought, they’re like, ‘Holy moly, I’m out of here. I’m gonna go and take a step back,'” Green said. “…Barboza ran. It’s constantly like I’m chasing these guys down. I’m not here to run marathons. Did you make me wait three to four months to do this? We came to do this?”
It looks like Green has found the perfect opponent in Iaquinta; Four of “Raging” Al’s last five fights were finished inside the distance. Iaquinta does not avoid confrontation and their lightweight bout in San Diego, California will be an entertaining one. Who do you have winning?
