Hendricks doesn’t need a manager with the Reebok deal

Since the UFC partnered with Reebok we have seen quite a bit of backlash, and not all of it has been from goofy t-shirt design errors.

Many fighters have spoken out on the Reebok deal, revealing that it takes money out of fighter’s pockets.

With that being said, former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks points out that he no longer needs a manager.

He spoke to Frank Trigg on ‘Toe to Toe with Trigg’.

“Now, realistically, where I’m at, I don’t need a manager. And if I start going the opposite way where I do need a manager, it’s time for me to hang up the gloves and freakin’ retire. I don’t want to just fight to fight. i want to fight to win. That’s where I’m at now. I’m ranked number three and I want to get back to being number one. If I call them up today and say, ‘How do I get back to being number one?’ It’s by doing this. Let’s do it, win. This date? Alright, I’ll be there. That’s really what it is for me and with the Reebok deal and all that stuff, you don’t really need. My management group, all they do is answer to Dana and Joe Silva.”

Hendricks brings up an interesting point. With the Reebok being fighter’s primary sponsors, could we potentially see a decline in fighter’s using managers?
