Holm: ‘I can handle the pressure of being champion’
Recently UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey stated that she believes Holly Holm would be much happier if she lost their UFC 193 bout because she would be unable to handle the pressure of being a UFC champion.
Holm disagrees with Rousey, and believes that she would be able to handle the pressures of being a champ.
She spoke to MMAJunkie to discuss Rousey’s comments:
“I would not be happier if I lost. That’s kind of the new thing she’s been saying.
“Maybe it’s coming from a place where she has a lot of pressure and media attention on her. She might be thinking it is a lot to handle, and maybe she is thinking no one else can do what (she does). Trust me, with a win, I will be able to handle it.”
While no one knows the pressure of being a UFC champion quite like a UFC champion, Holm got a taste of a champion’s lifestyle during her professional boxing career.
