Holm: ‘UFC Testing Me With Rousey Fight’
Yesterday the shocking news broke that UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey would be taking on fellow undefeated fighter Holly Holm at UFC 195 on Jan. 2.
After the dust settled we got explanations from Dana White, about why Holm and not Miesha Tate was given the title shot, and we also heard from Tate herself who expressed her disappointment with the decision.
Basically the UFC wants something new, not a third fight between people who have fought twice already and had the same outcome.
Finally, we got to hear form title challenger Holm, who had this to say on ‘America’s Pregame’:
“Maybe it’s one of those things where they just want to test me out, kind of throw me out there. Maybe it’s because they really feel I’m ready. I don’t really care too much of the why. I just want to make the best of the situation.”
“I think she knows that in beating me that even says more about her stand up. For a long time so many people were always just talking about her armbar. I think that she wanted to prove to them she has more than that, which she has done just that. So this is a big opportunity for her to really show people what she’s made of.”
