Johnson Thinks Cormier Will be a Tougher Opponent Than Jones
UFC 187 underwent several facelifts before the final card was released, but Anthony “Rumble” Johnson seems to be prepared for whoever Dana White and the UFC stick in front of him.
He was originally scheduled to face Jon “Bones” Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, but Jones’ recent run in with the law forced the UFC to strip him of the title and suspend him from the organization. Daniel Cormier was lucky enough to end up in the new main-event with Johnson and Johnson actually thinks Cormier is a tougher opponent than Jones.
During the UFC 187 Media Call, Johnson broke down his upcoming fight with Cormier and why he could be more dangerous than the former champion. “Daniel has power, he has speed, good technique. His wrestling is top notch. Nobody can deny that. For me, that’s great. And for him, that’s great. To me he’s just gonna be a tougher opponent. He might be shorter than me, but the dude packs a lot of power.”
Cormier has proven to be one of the top wrestlers in the division when he slammed Dan Henderson into submission at UFC 173. Who do you think will walk out of the octagon with the gold slung over their shoulder? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
