Jose Aldo Confirms Nova Uniao Threatened to Sue Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen’s ongoing rivalry with all things Brazil almost got escalated to a new level when Jose Aldo revealed his camp wanted to sue him.

“The Baddest Man on the Planet” made claims on his podcast that Aldo had planned to sue him and the UFC for claims they made about his rib injury before “UFC 189”. During a recent media scrum leading up to “UFC 190” in Brazil, Aldo revealed they were never going after UFC.

Sonnen on the other hand…

“We had nothing with the UFC, but with (Sonnen’s) statements,” Aldo said. “It wasn’t me, my team felt offended by the things he said about the team, especially ‘Dede’ (Pederneiras).”

While it doesn’t look like Nova Uniao will actually sue, Aldo admits that he was upset with what Sonnen said. “We were upset. He was always a talker. You can’t write the things he says. They were upset, but I was cool about it. I didn’t care much about it.”
