Jose Aldo’s goal: “I want to break every UFC record!”
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has one goal and it’s to be the best fighter of all time.
“Scarface” spoke to MMAJunkie.com about his UFC aspirations. Here’s what the longtime champion had to say:
“I want to be considered the greatest fighter ever.” Aldo stated through a translator.
Aldo went on to say that he has a lot of respect for his UFC 169 opponent, Ricardo Lamas, but that he knows he will emerge victorious on Saturday night:
“We both came from the WEC, and I know him well from that time,” Aldo said. “He’s a great fighter and a worthy opponent, and I think it’s going to be a good fight, but I’m going to win.
“I know he’s going to try to take the fight to the ground, but I’m very well-prepared. I’m the champion, and I’m going to go in there and win the fight.”
UFC president Dana White has said that if Aldo wins, a super-fight with lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is a possibility, something Jose seems to be down for. Becoming the third man, next to BJ Penn and Randy Couture, to hold belts in 2 weight classes is an opportunity Aldo would like to have:
“First, I have to beat Ricardo Lamas,” Aldo said. “But fighting Anthony Pettis is a possible opportunity I really like. It would be a new challenge, and I’d certainly consider that possibility, but it’s not just up to me. I have to talk with my coaches and team and consider the future of my career.”
At only 27 years of age, Aldo still has a lot of time left in the sport and some lofty goals to accomplish before he’s done:
“I’m very young, and I still have a lot to accomplish,” Aldo said. “But I feel like I can be the greatest ever. I want to break every UFC record.”
At this point, there’s no reason to think that Aldo can’t make his dreams a reality. What do you think Penn Nation, can Aldo be the best of all-time?
